Dean Henry

Biography:

 

Dean Henry was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and still resides in the area. He began researching his family’s genealogy in the late 1980’s. Since retiring from a career in Information Technology in 2013, he has consulted as a professional genealogist and cybersecurity leader. He established Family Pearl LLC in 2012, with specialities focusing on African American Genealogy, and Genealogy Technology. Dean’s current volunteer activities include: Board  of Directors member for the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania; Executive Committee member for the African American Genealogy Group of Philadelphia; Vice President of the Family Quest Society Chapter of the Afro American Historical & Genealogical Society; Board of Management member for the Philadelphia Continental Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution; and Auditor General for the Society of First African Families of English America. He is also a member of the Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and the Sons and Daughters of the US Middle Passage.

Dean earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters degree from La Salle University. He is an alumni chapter member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Dean is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and Certified Information Security Manager.

Dean descends from Private James Due/Dew (1758-1832) a soldier in the Maryland Continental Army from 1778-1783.
