Please join the Society of the First African Families of English America’s Leadership Team celebrate the  Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society’s 45th anniversary at this year’s Annual Conference from October 12 through 15, 2022.

The AAHGS Annual Conference is the largest international African American conference that promotes African-ancestored family history, genealogy, and cultural diversity by bringing together subject matter experts who promote scholarly research, provide resources for historical and genealogical studies, create a network of persons with similar interests, and assist members  in documenting their histories.  Typical attendees are historians, genealogists, researchers, scholars, educators, preservationists, media, and beginners.

The theme for this years AAHGS’s conference is Bridging the American Colonial Divide: Resurrecting the Memory and Space of Black Patriots and History Makers.

Our President General Ric Murphy will be presenting several sessions including:  Bringing America’s Forgotten Patriots out of the Shadows of American History; and America's True Forgotten Patriots.

Our Auditor General Dean Henry will present Recording Enslavers in Family Tree File.

Our Genealogist General Dr. Shelley V. Murphy will present a session titled:  Finally Remembered: The Black Patriots of the Revolutionary War; and she presented a session on African American Research Challenges; and brought news about the new International African American Museum (IAAM).

President General Ric Murphy and Auditor General Dean Henry will be participating in a special session Celebrating Discoveries of History, and Genealogy-We Shall Not Forget to be hosted by AAHGS’s President LaJoy Mosby, where they will talk about their Revolutionary War ancestors.
