Libraries

Federal, state, and local libraries hold numerous documents relating to the African American experience and lives during the colonial and post-colonial periods of American history. They often have rotating exhibits that often contain some of these documents for public display, They also have digital collections that contain a wide variety of materials  including manuscripts, personal papers, government documents, books, and maps critical to historial and genealogical research on Americans of African descent.
