SOFAFEA Districts

The membership of the Society of the First African Families of English America shall be organized into ten Regional societies. Each District Society shall regulate all matters pertaining to its own affairs. The following sets forth the appropriate districts:

(a) The New England District is composed of the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont;

(b) The North Atlantic District is composed of the states of New York and New Jersey;

(c) The Mid-Atlantic District is composed of the states of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia;

(d) The South Atlantic District is composed of the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee;

(e) The South Central District is composed of the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico; Oklahoma and Texas;

(f) The Great Lakes District is composed of the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin;

(g) The Central District is composed of the states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota;

(h) The Rocky Mountain District is composed of the states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming; 

(i) The Western District is composed of the states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington; and

(j) The President General will establish as appropriate an International District Society to represent international interests.

 

As the most diverse genealogical society, our regions are designed to meet the diverse needs of our members at the community and regional level.
